Gigabyte UMPC U60 (VIA EstherULV C7-M processor 1.0GHz; 768MB RAM)
CNET Asia Review
Very good
The good: Good battery life; slim for a sliding design; has one of the fastest processors in a UMPC; optional accessories add functionality with relatively small premium. 7
out of 10View score
The bad: No external display port; no Ethernet or modem onboard.
The bottom line: The Gigabyte U60 is a surprisingly good pioneering attempt at the UMPC market by the mainboard manufacturer. However, we feel the docking station should have been included as part of the bundle as it adds a couple of essential functions.

too large and I do not see this as a big seller
Mar 25, 2008Rating: 6 out of 10 (Good)
Pros: keyboard
Cons: size, splitting the keyboard is not ideal nor is the slider design.
Opinion:
If a UMPC is not jacket pocket size then you either carry a "man purse" or stuff it in your brief case. In the latter, you might as well have a full blown laptop since the slightly thinner and smaller size does no advantage since it is not jacket size. What is needed is a jacket size UMPC with a touch type keyboard. Bring back the popular clamshell form factors. With such weak designs 2008 is not going to change UMPC sales, util they realize the functionality of what the market needs.
