Nokia N79 and N85 make official debut

By Damian Koh

Nokia has just added the N79 and N85 to its growing stable of Nseries devices today. According to the Finnish company, the N79 is the first Nseries mobile to sport Xpress-On smart covers with an embedded chip that automatically changes the color theme of the phone to match that of the interchangeable cover. Also for the first time, the mobile phone maker has added an OLED display on the N85.

As with all Nseries offerings, the N79 and N85 comes packed with multimedia features, from 5-megapixel cameras with Carl Zeiss lens and GPS receivers to onboard Wi-Fi and HSDPA connectivity. Both Symbian Series60 smart phones also feature built-in FM transmitters/receivers, 3.5mm audio jacks and integrated 3D stereo speakers.

Both devices are expected to be out in October. In Singapore, the N79 and N85 will come with a three-month license for turn-by-turn voice navigation and a voucher to activate one of the preloaded games. The N79 will also be bundled with a 4GB microSD card, while the N85 will offer an 8GB microSD card. Packaged contents and offers may vary from country to country, so do check with your local Nokia representative for more details.

N85 offers more of innovations in mobile phones than any other phones announced recently and yet offered cheaper than most of the high end phones. This is will be the phone to beat in sales as it would score more than N95 or N96, C905, innovate among others in my prediction..

N79 is targeted for hip and stylish and with innovations but not that much compared to N85.

Congrats Nokia! Job well done.
