You guys should put a big disclaimer on the price cause those are the subsidized prices of the iPhone. If I'm not mistaken I believe AT&T is planning to release a "no-commitment version" of the phone in the future for $599 and $699 respectively. Since the $199 and $299 price points were for the US and, I believe, the rest of the world through carrier subsidies, then I wouldn't be surprised to find unlocked versions through Apple Stores for the higher prices. Then again, they're unlocked so you'd expect to pay more anyway.

Let me correct that, it's not just a plan, it's confirmed! Well, for a lot of us, it may be a good thing but some may still opt for a unit with contract.

So what about Indonesia? Are they ever going to sell the iPhone here? With exchange compatibility it could be a real competitor to Nokia. Anyone have any 'dood oil' on that?

darkmax says...
So the iPhone will launched around the price of the HTC Diamond and the Samsung Omnia i900.

Singapore is Sept 1. I got this snippet from one of my "regular" phone vendors (who just happens to be pretty attractive too - nice for the long chats about the relative merits of various plans and models) and I have already asked for one to be reserved.

Additionally, I know of one company who has had its hands on a couple of demo uinits for testing/application development.

For the record, I DID have one of the previous versions, LOVED it and LOST it in the back of a cab in Singapore. Guess what... it was history 20 minutes after I realised I had left it in the back of the cab. Sigh....

Don't waste ur time waiting.... I will buy it only a year after i was out.........

If the price plan is reasonable with Singtel, it's a no brainer to get one. Don't mind a contract of a year, 2 years is pushing it and 3 years will be a joke. If that happens, i'll just get a jailbreak version.

Hi,
For India, Airtel & Vodaphone have started bookings, no price mentioned as of now. The rumours are that there will not be any subsidy by the operators and this may increase the price on offer to over 500USD equivalent.

Cheers!

What's so good wit IPhone? It's an over-hyped and under-worked phone! Haha...get one and you'll be bored by the third week.

The ONLY thing good that I see it is that you get to carry it and flash around the town, which by then, thousands of others will be doing the same act.

Gd luck.

Hi everyone,

thought i'll share some good news here. The unofficial user manual for iPhone 3G, "THE MISSING MANUAL for iPhone 3G" costing USD$28 on Amazon.com can be downloaded free.

Download it free at i-phone-resource.blogspot.com
