The good: Opera browser; YouTube application; TouchFLO 3D interface; sharp VGA display; compact and attractive design; 4GB internal storage.

The bad: No microSD card slot; poor battery life; no dedicated audio mini-jack; occasional slowdowns in interface.

The bottom line: The Diamond brings much innovation to the Windows Mobile platform and is a great handheld for both business and entertainment.

Great looker packed with features

Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Slim & compact; VGA screen; WM6.1 with Opera
Cons: Battery has short life and warms up with heavy use.
Opinion:
Coming from a HTC Cruise and having gone thru a steep learning curve with Windows Mobile, my transition to the Diamond was easy. The Diamond looks great and to me a big plus is the slim dimensions and the VGA screen. Of course I also bought it for features like GPS and Wifi that I use frequently. The battery life is extremely short; I guess it is a compromise to keep dimensions small.

I use the GPS a lot and not having a SD slot does makes things a bit inconvenient. The 4GB internal storage is more than enough for my use.

The crisp clear screen is excellent for web-surfing - especially with the control wheel making zooming in/out a breeze.

With lots of tweaks available, most of the complaints relating to speed, management of contacts, threaded SMS, etc are easily corrected. This device can only get better as more tweaks and new ... Read more

A big heart break

Rating: 5 out of 10 (Average)
Pros: Size, Beautiful, Touch 3D, Phone keypad (soft), processor
Cons: windows mobile (the biggest flaw), SMS management, restricted screen rotate and Sync a nightmare
Opinion:
HTC Touch Diamond has got to be the biggest heart break of the year for all pocket pc phone lovers like me. I had the highest expectations from HTC for the diamond and looks like all HTC focused on was the exterior designing and cosmetic fancy features. But it would be highly unfair to blame HTC for all the flaws. I would say its more to do with Windows mobile 6.1 which is for sure the most complex and flawed O/S in the world. To list a few of the major problems with this device ;
1) SMS management is a NIGHTMARE. A basic Nokia device costing USD 100 or less would do the job million times better. Guys who are into bulk forwarding of SMS - FORGET IT, you may end up with a mental breakdown.
2) Screen rotating is restricted to only while surfing or watching photos. Wonder y is it restricted as this is most required while ... Read more

Small Screen for over 50 , Hard to grab, battrey terrible not acceptable, jerkey arrow keys,

Rating: 3 out of 10 (Poor)
Pros: looks beautifull, runs fast when all features off and no data loaded, Slim
Cons: battery last 3 to 5 hours max. hard to grab, heatup to burning point, lusy interface
Opinion:
screen size is problem to browse you need a magnifier to navigate, most time i got from the battery was 5 hours standby. turn the bletooth and GPS on with a car charger connected and see the battery Gage still go down. the touch interface program is not user friendly and takes a lot of the memory out of the phone. so 192 meg and few programs you get out of memory problem. 2.8" screen size puts a lot of strain on your vision unless you have magnifier handy all the time.
the phone does not switch from portrait to landscape mode all the time. i got 50% of the time in the 2 program that suppose to work. HTC sales the phone with its good marketing and every thing you see in their site only works that fast in HTC factory only. try picking up the phone when in rush most of the time it slips your hand. customer ... Read more
