Sep 3, 2007Rating: 10 out of 10 (Perfect)
Pros: Small, quiet, value for money
Cons: 6 MP, Only built-in autofocus motor lenses
Opinion:
This is a perfect camera for me as I was using my dad's P5000 and when i got this camera at COMEX they also gave the 55-200mm lenses free and that already covered all my needs. Great transition camera for an enthusiast using digital cameras to SLR! :)
Spectacular performance and great for first-timers on dSLRs
Jun 10, 2007Rating: 10 out of 10 (Perfect)
Pros: Very smooth handling, takes exceptionally good photos and is good at anytime you want
Cons: only 6 megapixels
Opinion:
great, really great. i used it at the Navy Open House 2007. on the rocking boat, i could snap a perfectly clear, still and close picture of a patrol boat at an estimated 20 knots. the focus is brilliant and is great for starters. price is more affordable than most dSLRs. good starting camera for all professional beginners. Nikon still puts on the best show at the end of the day.
Great DSLR that is suited for those buying their 1st DSLR
Feb 21, 2007Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: solid build quality, fast response time, good battery life, beautiful images, good kit lens
Cons: can be bigger, only autofocus with Nikon AFS and Sigma HSM lenses
Opinion:
Overall the D40 totally matched my requirements perfectly. I was using a Canon S2 IS and wanted to progress to a DSLR and thank goodness, Nikon released the D40 at such a suitable time! Made my transition from prosumer to DSLR so much more comfortable with a slight learning curve.
The D40 might not suit more advanced DSLR users but buy the camera that suits your needs. For those buying their 1st DSLR, the D40 is a good starting point.
The D40 is a superb camera for beginners
Feb 19, 2007Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Beautiful Pictures/Power up very fast/2.5 frames per second
Cons: Autofocus will not work with non AF-S or non AF-I lenses
Opinion:
Targeted for those who want a relatively compact and light camera with SLR features. Very aggresive pricing, I got mine from warehouse123 for $500. On the whole, I'm delighted with this purchase after shooting with it for a few days. I can't wait to take it on the next family vacation.
