mCommerce: Help or hindrance to Pinoy online shopping?
Aug 27, 2008 00:20
To be quite honest, I was never really into eCommerce. You see, I have a bad spending habit. And if I know I have money to burn, as is the case during the rare occasions when I do go shopping, I'd spend as much as I possibly can. My philosophy being that I'd probably never do this again. So hey, might as well splurge. This isn't the first time this has happened, silly me, and yes, I'd most likely end up burning a hole in my wallet.
For example, when we were in Hong Kong last month, I ended up spending oodles of money on gadgets and guitar stuff. I mean, granted it was much cheaper there... but that shouldn't have been a license to spend most of my salary in one sitting. And yes, it translated to online--when my card was very recently wiped clean of all debt, I logged onto GoDaddy just to check on my domains... and ended up buying five more. Yes, I succumbed to the pitch: "Your name is still free! Hurry, buy it now!" and other domains that got me thinking... opportunity (until now, I haven't touched those domains).

The recently concluded Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP) Seminar, which was held at the Manila Intercon August 13-15, 2008, was quite successful in that the Who's Who of digital, mobile and online marketing were there either as resource speakers or as part of the actual esteemed list of attendees and booth suppliers/presentors.

Friendster beefing up its Asia-Pacific foothold
Aug 7, 2008 14:16
Got this from one of my Multiply contacts, which linked a story to Business World Online, relating how Friendster just added more capital to fund expansion in the Asia-Pacific region. According to the article from Business World Online, "Friendster Vice-President for Global Marketing David Jones said the $20-million loan from investor IDG Ventures would allow Friendster to extend its leadership position in Asia-Pacific, where more than a third of the world’s Internet users are located." This includes China of course (which, according to Internet World Stats, has obviously the largest internet population), along with Japan, South Korea, and of course Philippines.

First-ever blog outside of the country--greetings from Hong Kong!
Jul 27, 2008 11:28
Well, me and my new Universal McCann family have arrived in Hong Kong. I am writing this now at the airport terminal, taking full advantage of the free Wi-Fi in the area. I was trying to blog earlier (around 7am in the Centennial Airport in Manila) but there wasn't enough room for me to hang out. I mean, the waiting area for our gate was loaded, and when I decided to sit elsewhere, the plane started boarding.
