Which do you check first, your email or your social network?

This post was inspired by a question my friend Toni Platon-Tiu, a.k.a. macaronigirl, posed just now on Plurk: "What do you check first when you go online: Plurk or your email?"

Like many people who responded, my answer was a resounding: "Plurk!" I dunno, it's become a habit for me, so whether I'm using my laptop or my mobile phone, that's the first thing I check whenever I go online, followed by email.

This brings to mind what a former boss of mine said, which is that you can also see a generation gap when it comes to keeping in touch online.

So, do you have nude photos on your mobile phone?

Nope, I'm not asking this because I'm a perv.

I just found myself wondering about this after reading about the American couple who are suing McDonald's for at least US$3 million after nude photos of the wife on the man's mobile phone were posted on the Internet.

Teen commits suicide while livestreaming on Justin.tv

UPDATE: Teen's dad says viewers of webcast suicide played role. Do you agree?

What would drive someone to broadcast his own suicide?

I was saddened and shocked to read this news item on NewTeeVee about a 19-year-old Florida resident who apparently committed suicide by overdosing on pills while lifecasting (talk about irony) on the live video site Justin.tv.

You can also read about it in this CNET News article. The reports indicated that some commenters who were watching the live stream even egged on 19-year-old Abraham K. Biggs, though this has been denied by some posters. The reports claimed that the teen's death has been confirmed by the authorities.

Still waiting for my Gmail theme

UPDATE: Woohoo, the Gmail theme setting was activated on my account today. The Ninja theme rules!

OK, I'm feeling left out--found out today from my colleague Morrigan Erinyes' Plurk update that the new Gmail theme setting has already been activated on her account. She's using the Desk theme.

Me? Nada. Zilch. You're supposed to get a Themes tab under Gmail's Settings. You can find out more about this new Gmail feature from this entry on the Official Gmail Blog. A number of users already have the new Themes tab, based on the Plurk responses that I've read.

Mobilizing online communities for your brand

Last week, from November 10-14 at 10am to 6pm, our company launched an online project which we believe is something groundbreaking, for the Philippine market, at the very least. Dubbed Reliving LIVE: The LIVE 2008 Experience, this was an online show that combined video footage from our successful Level Up! LIVE 2008 online gaming event last month at the World Trade Center (over 20,000 attendees at the actual event, with over 12,000 unique readers following the action via the live blog, and 55,000 viewers from 27 countries watching the live video stream) with a live feed from our studio.
