Photos: Gadgets at Ceatec, day 1

Thin was the big story at the CES, IFA, and CEDIA shows this year, and Ceatec is no different. Sharp's ultrathin Aquos XS TV will be officially available in Japan only starting October 15. It's a mere 2.28 centimeters thick, and comes in 52- and 65-inch sizes. Sharp says the TV contains "mega-contrast" technology, which allows for greater than 1 million-to-1 contrast. The 65-inch device also has improved energy efficiency, using 294 kilowatt hours per year, which is 26 percent better than the previous year's model, according to the company.
