The Lysergic Tide's follow-up to their self-titled debut album is "Solutionogenic". You can tell, listening to The Lysergic Tide, that the act of creating music is, for them, an expression of joy. And, as you probably guessed if you are familiar with LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide), this joy is partially drug-induced. But unlike most druggie groups, whose music reels out of control, the Lysergic Tide stays focused and connected, and creates intricately layered tracks that are both engaging and addictive.

But what makes this album a masterpiece are the lyrical intricacies, and the ways Keegan Miller's lyrics flow together. Beginning with the first track, "By The Sea", which contains numerous references to (and a borrowed verse from) Kurt Cobain's song "Smells Like Teen Spirit", to the upbeat protest song "If Freedom Freedom" ("I wake to find you / grinding on my mind's good sense / where I'm from we would know better than to keep up a war fence against our friends") to the indescribable song "Most Days" ("peace is real / war is untrue / can't they feel the karma of what they do? / politics will call in sick but I will get their better..."), Miller makes you feel his beliefs and his style is utterly convincing.

Not unremarkable too are the experimental musical aspects of this disc. Track 15, "A Lucky Four-Leaf Clover", uses an off-key arpeggio that is quite unlike anything this reviewer had heard before, and yet it fits together beautifully. And the lyrics are cool too ("let me again / in all my Zen / come into light so gently / for this one wish I've rearranged my thoughts and where they've sent me"). Track 5 is an instrumental mix called "I Can't Believe I'm This High", and, as hard as it may be to believe, TLT gets this state of being across beautifully.

Whether you're a drug user yourself who can relate or you just appreciate open minds and beautiful sounds, "Solutionogenic" is, in this reviewer's opinion, a worthwhile experience.
