On Kong is a London-based recording artist specialising in deep, sophisticated electronic grooves.
A sexy mix of ambient downtempo, old school breaks, UK garage, minimal house and electrosoul, On's music spans the spectrum from deep and warm to icy cool.
On's early experience in music developed from producing house, drum&bass and garage beats in his bedroom to composing and producing bespoke music for commercial use. These commissioned projects ranged from sophisticated ambient soundscapes for corporate websites to tongue in cheek sleazy minimal tech grooves for adult films.
In November 2005, On composed and produced the score for Sarkah, an exhibition of paintings and performance art by Aris Yaacob, launched by designer Jimmy Choo in London.
Bedroom Beats, released independently in February 2006, is On Kong's first album.
On Kong's music takes you on an emotional journey inspired by sunrise and sunset, the seaside, cities, planes, trains, hotels, goodbyes, rain showers, outdoor festivals, raves, warehouse parties, balmy summer evenings, languid mornings after, warm duvets and hazy memories of events, places and feelings.
The track Mother Nature, a seductively smooth groove which mixes old school funk with space-age ambience, has recently been on heavy rotation at Chillout 2 New York, where it reached number 5 in February 2006, alongside music from some of the world's leading downtempo artists.
On's latest release, Too Late, a deep, dubby, minimal vocal track with an early US house influence, echoing the likes of Larry Heard, Robert Owens and Raze, reached number 5 in Soundclick's house chart in February 2006.
But even more exciting for On was the recent thrill of hearing his own sensual grooves drifting soflty from the speakers throughout the sleek lobby and starry-lit elevators of London's ultrachic Sanderson Hotel... a fantasy setting for On Kong's music, right up there with an Ibiza sunset!
