What can't I print after replacing an ink cartridge?

Oct 6, 2008

Question on Printers:

After replacing a new refilled ink to my Canon Pixma MP145, the printer still shows low ink.

It's a very new printer and I tried to reset it but unfortunately it shows the same old statement.

How can I properly reset my printer to print?

Also, would you advice me to have it convert it into a continuous ink system because I'm running a business that badly needs a lot of printing?

Although refilling ink cartridges can help you save some money, there is no confirmation that a refilled cartridge will work properly. This is because on each tank, there is a chip which communicates with the printer, telling the printer how much ink is left. When you refill a cartridge, the chip's status will still think it's empty and this could be why your printer is still displaying the Low Ink status.

I won’t recommend you to use third party ink cartridges, ink refills or continuous ink system as they are not wired by the manufacturer themselves and could possibly damage your device. Your warranty will also be void.

One way I think can help would be to use a color laser printer. The print yield is higher and quality is acceptable, though not comparable to inkjet's.
