Plasma or LCD TV for regular TV viewing?

Sep 30, 2008

Question on Home Entertainment:

I am thinking of buying a plasma or LCD TV. What I need to know is when watching TV through my receiver, are the images better on a plasma or LCD TV? Is the Panasonic TH-42PV80 a good choice?

For 40- to 42-inch panels, the lower resolution XGA (1,024 x 768-pixel) plasma TVs may have an upper hand in picture sharpness. This is because less video upscaling is required for displaying standard-definition TV programs.

The midrange Panasonic PV80 is a good start, you should also check out the Samsung PS42A450P and LG 42PG60D. The latter even has a built-in HD digital TV tuner.

I have just recently bought my self a TH-42PV8H I think its basically the same as the PV80 except for added features.

I have to say that picture quality is stunning for a 42" of this price. Contrasts were very good.
I picked this over the Sharp Aquos 37" WXGA screen. Both were identical price.

The Reviews from many places were also excellent! Bang for buck!
