Question on Digicams:

Which is more important in a digital camera? Resolution (as in megapixels) or optical zoom?

It really depends on your needs. If you plan to make A4-sized prints or larger, then having a higher resolution is more important. The higher the pixel count, the bigger the print you can make. Optical zoom, on the other hand, is useful in helping you get closer to the action without physically moving towards the subject.

Actually, most digicams these days offer a decent capture resolution (8 to 12 megapixels) and comes with at least a 3x optical zoom lens. So there's really not much to decide between the two, except when looking at long-zoom cameras.

Well for me it should work hand in hand. What you need is a decent camera with at least 3x optical zoom. As for new digital cameras, optical zoom and high camera resolution are common inclusions.
