Charging an electronic device has never been more fun. Out of juice? Give it a few flicks (10-12) and your MP3 baby's all charged up to go. There's nothing to it. Though still a conceptual device, it looks pretty grand to us. With a set of Bluetooth headphones and a seemingly simple user interface, the trick is figuring out how to skip songs while spinning your yo-yo all over the pavement.
Pay peanuts and you get monkeys. Same goes for these nutty speakers. For a fair bit of chump change (US$30), you get a pair of too-tiny speakers shaped like a peanut. Useful? Well, that depends on how acute your hearing is. Else Phil Collins may just sound like a squeaky monkey to you.
Our karma has reached a deficit this month. Showing off the YP-K5 may have contributed to that. It's undeniably geek cool to be toting the latest tech toy when no one has it yet. Especially when it’s a gadget that's excellent at speaking volumes about itself. We have tried it in elevators, buses, cafes, train carriages and anywhere else with maximum human traffic at full blast. Conclusion? You've got to be deaf to miss the little black player… and the grinning snot-nosed geek who's holding it.
The Zen Vision W is just like its predecessor... with a difference. It will have a 4.3-inch widescreen display capable of a 480 x 272-pixel resolution. With a 16:9 screen, this will make the Vision W perfect for mobile movie fans. The portable video player will also feature a CF card slot. It will be launched on August 31 at COMEX Singapore at a price of S$649 (US$434.32) for the 30GB version and S$749 (US$501.24) for the 60GB model. This will be available August 31 and September, respectively.
| Editors' note:
Previously, we mentioned that the Zen Vision W would feature a magnesium casing. However, further developments reveal that it may not be the case. We will update once we have further details.

Creative CEO, Sim Wong Woo, must be one happy man. He's got one up on old Jobs. Maybe he's in an expansive mood, too. According to epiZENter, a Creative Zen fan site, an advertisement in Maxim magazine revealed the existence of a 60GB Creative Zen Vision:M. Meanwhile, the same site also spotted a writeup in Popular Mechanics magazine, of the Creative Zen Vision W. It's apparently a wider-screen version of the (4.3-inch vs 3.7-inch) Creative Zen Vision and runs up to 60GB.
Leaks or typos? At press time, Creative was unable verify both rumors. We will have to wait and see.
