Nokia to expand its Nseries lineup

Reuben Lee  |  Apr 24, 2006

Recent news reports have confirmed that the Finnish phone maker will be unveiling new Nseries multimedia handsets in Berlin this week that are lighter and more stylish. Among these will be an update to the popular N70, to be called the N73, which is rumored to offer enhanced features such as a 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus and Carl Zeiss lens, Bluetooth 2.0 and stereo speakers.

Earlier this year, several Web sites posted a picture of what they claimed was the N93 handset, an update to the upcoming TV-enabled N92 handset (left picture) which will be available globally only later this year. According to the reports, the N93 will come with a 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus, 3x optical zoom lens (a rare feature on camera-phones) and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity.

Dopod's RAZR-like smart phone set to debut

Reuben Lee  |  Apr 21, 2006

Come May, handheld maker Dopod will be launching the S300 (aka HTC Star Trek) smart phone in Singapore. Details of the S300 have so far been sketchy but the company has confirmed that quadband handset will come with a 1.3-megapixel camera, 2.2-inch QVGA display and Bluetooth. It will be running on Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone Edition.

The main feature of the phone, however, is its thin form factor. Possibly one of the slimmest smart phones currently available, the S300's footprint at 98.5 x 51.4 x 15.8mm is just a tad bigger than the RAZR V3 (98 x 53 x 13.9mm). The Dopod smart phone will also be equipped with 64MB ROM and 64MB RAM, with memory expansion in the form of a microSD slot.

Alcatel's liquid phone

Juniper Foo  |  Apr 05, 2006

From Motorola to Sony Ericsson, we're used to seeing these guys push the design envelope in mobile phones. But Alcatel? Our memories of the brand have been less than flattering, but absence makes the heart grow fonder. Particularly when we came face to face with the liquid-looking OT-C750 handset. The functions aren't anything to shout home about, but the metallic finish with its mirror effect looks almost deliciously organic. Too bad Alcatel retails its phones in only selected parts of Asia.

Motorola unveils new handsets at CTIA

Reuben Lee  |  Apr 04, 2006

The world's second-largest mobile maker has announced new additions to its RAZR handset family at this week’s CTIA (Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association) trade show in Las Vegas. Among them are three new color offerings (dark blue, maroon and violet) for the V3i and a CDMA version of the V3i called V3m. The company also showcased a new entry-level phone known as the W315.

Motorola also announced a collaboration with Skype for its Talk & Tunes Wireless Internet Calling Kit. This new kit makes use of Bluetooth to allow Skype users to wirelessly listen to music and manage calls over the Internet from a PC. The V3i color handsets are expected in the second quarter of 2006, while the V3m and W315 will start shipping in Q3, according to a Motorola press release.
