Take a bow, o lipless one. Sony Ericsson is turning to the other Japanese feline with the irresistible grin, the blue-skinned Xiao Ding Dang, to draw youngsters to its limited-edition Doraemon J300i phones. We suspect collectors will be making discreet purchases as well. Starting today, the limited-edition mobiles will be rolled out in Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia, with SingTel offering just 1,000 handsets within our sunny isle. Each bundle will be themed to contain either a blue or pink Doraemon Style-Up faceplate, accompanying phone pouch and phone strap with screen cleaner, though no Doraemon ringtones. Through some strange marketing decision, Singaporeans will get only the blue version, whereas our Philippine neighbors will even receive a soft toy of the robocat with the purchase of a K300i prepaid phone kit. Bummer. Oh yeah, before we forget, happy 35th birthday, Xiao Ding Dang.
