Twitter users beware

Many use the micro-blogging service Twitter to quickly and easily share short bits of news with friends and family. Like more established social-networking sites, Twitter is gaining both in popularity and as a target for cyber criminals.

A plane that's cheaper than a luxury car

US$139,000 is what's keeping you out of the skies in this foldup plane:

Tired of inflight food like this geek who's been living in airplanes and airports a good part of the past few months? Then pilot your own plane--the Icon A5, the light sports aircraft that's cheaper than your Mercedez Benz, at least here in Singapore. The similiarity? You can park it in your garage, too, thanks to its foldable wings.

Tips for staying on top in 2009

Entering into what looks like a really dark and gloomy year ahead, I'm sure you've taken some time to ponder about what lies ahead for your career this year and how you will manage. To stay ahead or even just to stay on top of the game, you will need to be more effective and efficient than ever. Allow this geek to share some tips on how to stay on top for 2009.

1. Working mobile: PDA Phones
Not only do you need to work away from the desk (from a desktop to a laptop), you'll also need to work mobile (from a simple mobile phone to PDA phones that you can handle emails and documents with). If you're not going mobile with your emails and documents yet, it's time to think about powering ahead in your career with this tip--because this was the one thing that increased my productivity by many folds.

Gaming in peace

I've so oft' seen gamers' anti-virus application affecting their play, like their anti-virus lagging their system, or scanning while they're playing, giving pop-up messages during a critical moment of play, thus causing poor play. Of course, this is especially critical for online gamers who are playing competitively in a multiplayer environment where you can't just hit the pause button on all your team mates and opponents.

Last weekend, I received an announcement from Norton that will change all this, for good. This product should have been launched eons ago. But now is better than never. I have yet to review the product personally but if it does all that it says it'll do, gamers can now game in peace. At least they can't use the anti-virus as an excuse for poor play from now on. In fact, I think all gaming team captains should make their members use this product.

Taking a closer look at the Google phone--HTC G1

I met someone who bought the HTC G1 from Amazon so I took the chance to take a closer look at it. This review will be told through pictures mainly:

First look--the Google branding on the phone. Gives you a good feeling, almost like the feeling of holding an iPhone.

The distinctive Google search bar on the desktop of the phone.

About Nicholas Aaron Khoo

Nicknamed "Gadget Boy" by friends at age 18 because he used to go around with a PalmPilot and write in Grafitti faster than most would type, Nicholas Aaron Khoo is programmer turned technopreneur now pretending to do strategic advisory for tech startups and as well as (un)Fortune 500s, when he's not pretending to be Clark Kent. His tech interests range narrowly from gadgets, gears, games, emerging web trends, social media, and just about anything remotely related to 1s and 0s. Besides ranting about tech, this geek is also learning to take a step back and reflect on life in a larger context and you can find more rantings on HighwayBlogger.net.
